Today I’m going to begin posting images for a project I’ve been working on for almost a year. It’s called the Tattoo Photography Portfolio Project. You can read more about the project here.
This is literally the first image I took at Star Tattoo when I began the project. I had walked in the door, been welcomed and they said, come watch the process! Not having any tattoos of my own, I knew nothing of the process. As you may know, almost every tattoo is a single, original work of art. No two are exactly alike.
This image shows tattoo artist Shawn Medlock beginning the design of a tatto0 for a lady who wanted something on her foot. He drew it up, got her approval, then copied it to some transfer paper which is then applied to the skin. From there they can outline it with pen and then begin the tattoo process.
This image was shot with Shawn’s back to me and I shot this through a mirror in the counter he was working on. For more info on the project, click here.
